Education activities reviw: July 11 – July 15

July 16, 2011

Public education programs

Our Discovery Labs continue to be well-attended, with 265 visitors joining us for the 2 Halibut Discovery Labs offered so far this week. Summer education intern Curtis Hightower did an excellent job designing and pulling information, activities, and visuals together for this week’s labs! Attendees found the halibut anatomy & life cycle, live crabs (halibut food), stomach dissection, and information on local halibut fishing of particular interest.

We invite you to join us for tomorrow’s halibut lab, as well as next week’s What’s Up Down There? The Ocean, Seafood, & Our Changing Climate labs – on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, July 20, 22, and 23 from 1 – 3 pm.

The Reserve’s summer education interns – Ericka Augustyn and Curtis Hightower – began leading the Reserve’s Estuary Hikes this week and have proven to be great educators. 31 visitors from all over the United States and Germany joined us for this week’s walks.

26 visitors joined Carmen for today’s Beach Walks at Bishops Beach.
