• Estuaries are nursery grounds for 2/3 of commercial fish and shellfish: in NERRS states, the shellfish and seafood industry contributed over $2.7B to the economy in 2010.

• More than 2M people annually visit the NERRS: an estimated more than $20M annually in direct benefit from these visitor use opportunities.

• In 2011, NERRS contributed more than $10M to science and research.

• NERRS contributes more than $4.9M in education relief offsets, educating over 83,000 children.

• NERRS offsets more than $13.4M in training for more than 66,000 people.
