December 5th Discovery Lab

November 14, 2012

Your neighbors are doing science.  You could too!

More than 25 local citizens work with the Kachemak Bay Research Reserve volunteering their time to keep an eye out for certain species in Kachemak Bay.

They are getting their feet muddy trapping crab at low tide, sweeping the water for phytoplankton and examining tiny organisms clinging beneath our harbors.

The equipment they use, the results of their monitoring, and the opportunity for others to join the programs will be found at the upcoming Discovery Lab; Wednesday, December 5th from 3-5 pm. Alaska Islands and Ocean Visitor Center, Lab Classroom.
