July 20, 2013

Public events

This week Tony and Carmen led Estuary Hikes for 51 visitors, including an added Wednesday hike attended by 18 five to twelve-year-olds who travelled to Homer for the day from the Kenai Boys & Girls Club.

Carmen’s Beach Walk today was a wind-whipped outing enjoyed by 13 visitors, some from as far away as Australia and England.

Last Saturday’s Fish On! Sport Fishing for Salmon Discovery Lab drew 63 visitors, and this week’s Wednesday and Friday Coastal Birds & Marine Mammals labs drew 224 people.

Next week our labs will feature the GulfWatch Alaska project that we are involved in…we invite you to join us and learn about 25 years of research on the region impacted by the Exxon Valdez oil spill and the continuing recovery of impacted birds, sea otters, whales, and fish.
