Education activities review: July 27-31

The staff of the Kachemak Bay Research Reserve and the Maritime National Wildlife Refuge are united in wishing Carmen a complete and speedy recovery, and will hold her in our thoughts until her return.

Public events

This week Carmen led an Estuary Hike for 15 visitors. So far this summer we’ve led 13 Estuary Hikes for 193 visitors, with an average of 15 people on each one.

Catie will be leading the remaining 2 Beach Walks this and next Fridays. So far this summer we’ve led 6 of these walks for 55 visitors, with an average of 9 people on each one.

Last Saturday’s GulfWatch Alaska Discovery Lab drew 55 visitors and today’s Monitoring Harmful Species lab drew 117 people. Next week is our last week for summer Discovery Labs – we’ll be offering 3 Salmon & Watersheds labs next Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. So far this summer we’ve had 13 Discovery Labs, which 1,167 people have attended—for an average of 90 visitors per lab.
