Check Spit weather and Kachemak Bay water quality from your mobile device!

October 28, 2013

The System-Wide Monitoring Program (referred to as SWMP- pronounced “swamp”) tracks short-term variability and long-term change in coastal waters at 28 reserves across the nation. SWMPs provide valuable long-term data on water quality and weather at frequent time intervals. The National Estuarine Research Reserve System (NERRS) is excited to announce the release of a new SWMP MOBILE Real-Time Data Application!  Current SWMP data from any real-time station around the NERRS is now available on your mobile device.  You can access KBRR water quality data from both Homer and Seldovia and the weather station at the end of the Spit.  Follow this link and then bookmark the page  www.nerrsdata.org/mobile

The station identifiers for Kachemak Bay are:

KACHDWQ – water quality station at the end of the Spit

KACSDWQ – water quality station at Seldovia

KACHMET – weather station at the end of the Spit (on top of Land’s End Resort)
